First of all, thanks so much for your wonderful responses to Friday’s post. Whether it be through a text, e-mail, or comment, I am deeply grateful for everyone who reached out and said that it resonated with them, or that they were cheering me on.
But secondly…hello! After a whirlwind week Harrisburg, Baltimore, and DC, we found ourselves in Chicago for a celebratory weekend of bat mitzvahs and family time. I had a great time with Nate’s family and tried to stay as warm as possible! It definitely brought back a ton of hilarious flashbacks to my 7th grade year and my own Bat Mitzvah. While I really enjoyed the weekend and exploring Chicago, it was definitely a little bittersweet come Monday catching up with my own family and the health of my grandparents. I’m really glad we’re going to Los Angeles for Passover in two weeks!
While I usually post Tuesday’s eats, I thought it would be fun to share my meals from Monday since I was still in Chicago! Linking up with the What I Ate Wednesday crew.
BREAKFAST
Around the corner from our hotel was a Le Pain Quotidien, which I used to go to all the time when I was in DC! I had the smoked salmon omelet, a tiny (expensive) cup of berries and salad. My garbage disposal boyfriend ate his omelet and both of our breads and some of my smoked salmon. Coffee got me buzzin’.
We spent the morning lounging and working from our hotel suite at the Waldorf Astoria, and hitting up their very nice gym. Living the high life for 24 hours :). This hotel felt very authentically luxurious - nothing was fake or plastic or just for show in any sense.
LUNCH
I discovered Goddess and the Grocer as a recommendation from a gal in my yoga class on Sunday at Yoga Six Chicago, and I went back twice for lunch! They have a really nice salad bar. On top of a bed of spinach and romaine, I had some hard boiled eggs, a little chicken, artichoke hearts, two kinds of beet salad, avocado, and white beans. Yum!! Nate got his beloved Chipotle, which he said was one of his top 10 creations in terms of portion size. Reminded me of when we first starting dating and I was super impressed with his (metabolism) and Chipotle ordering strategy.
Monday was the most beautiful and warm of the days we were in Chicago, so we took advantage! Before strolling down the Magnificent Mile, we stopped by Yogurtland for a sample…
SNACK
Later in the day on our way to O’Hare Airport, I snacked on one of these “In” bars. I really like them, but I’ve only been able to find them in one store in Harrisburg!
DINNER
In the airport, I grabbed a tuna salad box, some Beanitos chips and a little thing of roasted beets and butternut squash. I used the Beanitos to scoop the tuna salad and enjoyed the celery and grapes. Definitely an odd combination - but made for a perfect Instagram for this month’s BGB Instagram challenge!
On the plane, I had some tea and a little bit of chocolate. Before we landed, we both ate a green apple and some almonds. I haven’t flown Virgin America in forever, but it was super nice to have a little TV screen on each of our seats for a domestic flight! What a treat! I got amazing powerpoint work done while catching up on The Voice and E! News.
We were home and in bed by 10:30am. Jet lag definitely worked in my favor when I had to wake up at 7:30am for early morning meetings!
