Hello everyone! I’m back in San Francisco after a long weekend in Santa Monica. I spent Tuesday working from my lovely apartment, enjoying some non-Whole30 eats, and sharing them through the weekly link-up!
Our reintroduction back into non-Whole30 was pretty seamless (minus the two bowls of granola I ate one night <- JUST SO CRUNCHY AND GOOD!). Nate’s feeling under the weather this week, and I certainly have a bit less energy since reintroducing grains/sugar/dairy/legumes. But it could just be circumstantial, as we both just got back from weekends away from our normal routine.
BREAKFAST
I whipped up a scramble with spinach, onions, and shiitake mushrooms. Nate had seasoned potatoes on the side, and we split a grapefruit. Plus coffee for me. Yum!
I then took myself to Cardio Barre, a workout studio right around the corner. They are doing a 5 classes for $49, and it seemed too good of a deal to pass up since I’ve always wanted to try their classes and they are so close to where I live. The class felt kind of like a Pure Barre class, but more ballet steps <- hilarious to watch myself in the mirror. I did not feel much of the “cardio”. I think I’ll stick with Spinning/pilates/yoga/running for now as my exercises of choice, but nice to have these classes in my back pocket since it’s so close and convenient.
LUNCH
I made my Tahini Kale Salad with leftover tofu from the night before. Sauerkraut on the side and a baby sweet potato made in the microwave through Hannah’s method.
Speaking of dinner the night before, I tried Instacart for the first time! I figured it would be nice to have my groceries delivered to me when I got back from the airport right before dinner, so I would have fresh stuff to cook with and not have to run to the store. A bit of a flub up since I wasn’t home when they were delivered, but they called me and then delivered them to Nate’s office. My shopper did a really great job choosing all of the produce and stuff I asked for at Whole Foods - even picky things like “pasture raised eggs!” Definitely going to use this again in the future when I’m coming back from traveling - delivery is only $5.99 and that’s about the amount I would spend on an Uber anyways. Here’s my referral link if you’re interested in trying Instacart!
SNACK
Big pear plus peanut butter, and some green tea.
I shut my computer around 5pm and took myself around the corner to get my haircut, and pick up a kombucha from Project Juice. I love that they have plain kombucha on tap, and you can mix it with 2 oz of many of their juices. I got the 2 oz flu shot mixed with my ‘buch, which had orange, lemon, ginger, cayenne, echinacea and reishi mushroom (?). Tasted super delicious and spicyyyy, and don’t worry - I couldn’t taste any mushroom.
DINNER
Did some recipe testing for this chicken and vegetable enchilada bake, and we enjoyed them a LOT with a side salad. We’re the kind of couple when it says serves 4, it usually means enough for the two of us. We did leave about a quarter of the bake for leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
DESSERT
A piece of super dark chocolate and a date. Unpictured. Then we had some tea, watched Cooked, and went to bed!
Have a great Wednesday, everyone!

Instacart hack — only $100 for the year with free delivery (as long as your order is at least $35). I never go to the store anymore!! If only TJ’s was on there…

CASSIE THAT’S A GAMECHANGER!
Haha, we are that couple too! I’ve been trying to package our lunches up before we dive in, but we are two hungry people.
I am excited to see that enchilada recipe!

I love to grocery shop, but it’s going to be super useful for when I travel and want groceries when I’m home!
All of your eats look SO delicious!
Instacart sounds like such a brilliant idea! We have a few grocery stores here who do home deliveries and have done for years, however, I never use them as I always find that I can only buy pantry staples as they seem to pick the worst produce. Perhaps a “real person” rather than a cranky shop assistant would do a better job 😛

I was worried about the quality that they would choose, but it ended up being great! They even texted me if they didn’t have exactly what I wanted and got my thumbs up on replacements.
Oh man! When I was working at the TV station I would have killed for a grocery delivery service. That would have been awesome… actually that would still be awesome. So many cool things in a big city
