Hello from rainy and wintry San Francisco! I am stopping by today to wish all of my readers a very happy holiday season and share some news.
It may come as no surprise to many of you, but I have decided to put blogging to the side for the time being. I used to be so inspired and passionate about putting out content 3x week, but in the last few months, I just haven’t been feeling as creative or excited about the blog.
I started DCC back in 2014, deep in my eating disorder. It’s actually kind of embarrassing to look back at those old posts and think that I was promoting a healthy lifestyle when I certainly was not one to preach. Two nutritionists (thank you Robyn and Cody!!!) and therapy later and I can honestly say that I’m recovered and I don’t feel the need to essentially prove that I’m healthy anymore through my blog. I used to devour other bloggers’ content every day looking for inspiration or validation of my own eating habits, and now I only read a handful of super well established blogs - I’ve found that many other bloggers also have an unhealthy relationship with food and, like I used to, are promoting it. Maybe that’s another reason that I’m tabling DCC for now, as I don’t connect with the person who originally started it.
I absolutely love to cook, and I love, love, love food and food culture and food sustainability and talking about food and sharing my love for food. I hope we can stay in touch via e-mail and share recipes, or via Instagram, and who knows - maybe I’ll be back in action eventually! For now, the blog will stay active as an archive in case you ever want to refer to an old post or recipe. Some of my personal recipe favorites from my 2 years of blogging include:
- Baked Sweet Potato Chips (probably the first time I took decent photos and one of the first viral posts I ever had!)
- Miso Soup with Tofu and Zoodles
- Baked Chicken and Veggie Couscous
- Maple Gingerbread Muffins
- Vegan Meze Platter
