There are a few things that I’ve always wanted to learn how to cook that range from cooking 101 to complicated to highly intimidating. Some are grocery store replacements - I’d like to buy less and make more. Some are more adventurous - things I love to eat out but would love to make at home. Some involve tradition, some were inspired by travel. All are purely for fun.
In general, I am making the significant move (even on the road) to eat less processed food and go back to the basics to local, simple, organic, seasonal cooking. It’s become extremely important to me, and you’ll see that across my recipes this year.
So I am putting this out there in the blog world so then I have to do it! We’ll call it Dani California Cooks’ cooking resolutions, and every month I am going to accomplish one of the below (hopefully!) and share my successes and failures and lessons learned with you. And if you want to join in on the journey, let’s cook together J.
So in no particular order…
- I will bake an awesome, fully whole grain, sourdough bread
- I will learn how to make my own sauerkraut
- I will make my own portable larabars or protein bars
- I will bake a beautiful challah
- I will learn how to whip up some really good whisky cocktails for Nate
- I will learn how to make fresh summer rolls with shrimp and thai basil and a really good dipping sauce
- I will play around with drying fruit in the oven
- I will finally bake a spaghetti squash
- I will learn to make homemade lattes
- I will learn to recreate stuffed Turkish eggplants that I ate every day in Istanbul
- I will perfect my hummus and baked falafel
- I will create a couple of ridiculously good homemade salad dressings
Wish me luck!
Any recommendations on how to accomplish the above? Leave me a comment or send me an e-mail! I could use all the help I can get.
