I apologize if this post seems a bit all over the place but I’m watching Westworld as I write this! Is anyone else hooked?!
I spent the last 10 days in Santa Monica and returned to wintry San Francisco on Sunday. Most days while I was at home I started out with some kind of workout and my go-to protein oats (oats/almond milk/egg white whipped in at the end plus fruit/nut butter) and mom’s french press. I got to try a bunch of new workout studios, including Pilates Platinum, MDR Studio, and Kinetic Cycling. I went to Kinetic Cycling with one of my oldest friends (remember Rachel?) and we grabbed iced lattes afterwards at Alfred. It was great to catch up! I often did lunch out while I was at home, but one day mom made me her go-to salad: I met up with my college roommate at M Cafe in Beverly Hills for their famous macro bowl with tofu: I also made a requisite visit after a long hike with my family to Thyme Cafe for their kale salad with brussels, fennel, and pine nuts – my favorite: I did a long Saturday brunch with one of my best friends at Huckleberry and we shared the fall chopped salad and their “green eggs and ham” open faced sandwich thing: We also did a night out in Downtown LA/Hollywood and went to Sugarfish (a MUST!) and saw Hedwig and the Angry Inch – it was really a fun show unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Another memorable dinner was at Jaipur – their tandoori fish was something I’d go back for again and again.
On Thanksgiving, I was in charge of the cranberry sauce, stuffing, and sweet potato biscuits. I have no pictures of the meal itself but my Aunt Lisa made a beautiful beet tart that looked like the sunset so I grabbed a picture of that! My favorite Thanksgiving items were my mom’s cabbage (which I made again yesterday) and my Aunt Mary’s mashed potatoes.
Yesterday when I returned home I did a major food prep session including hard boiled eggs, protein bites, banana cookies, my mom’s cabbage, ground chicken burger patties. I’m set for the week!
